On July 29th, the 10th executive director (expansion) meeting of the 5th China Iron and Steel Industry Association and the model commendation meeting were held in Beijing. The theme of the conference was “actively consolidating the results of supply-side structural reforms and striving to promote the sustainable and healthy development of the steel industry”. More than 300 representatives (directors) and commended personnel from relevant government departments, research institutes, universities and steel companies attended the meeting. Wang Wei, Director of the Raw Materials Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Comrade Wang Wei affirmed the positive results of the steel de-capacity work, analyzed the outstanding problems in the current operation of the steel industry, and proposed several tasks that the steel industry should focus on to achieve high-quality development. Comrade Wang Wei believes that the steel industry, as the vanguard of the supply-side structural reform, should continue to deepen the structural reform of the supply side and promote the high-quality development of the industry in accordance with the requirements of the "consolidation, enhancement, upgrading and smooth flow". In the face of the current problems in the steel industry, such as increased production capacity risks, excessive steel production growth, soaring iron ore prices, and the relocation of urban steel mills, the steel industry should continue to be guided by Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We will continue to promote green development, promote smart manufacturing, expand superior supply, optimize production capacity, and solidly promote the high-quality development of the steel industry.
