The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge is China's first double-layered public-rail dual-purpose bridge designed and built entirely of domestically produced materials. It breaks the assertion that foreign experts can't build bridges on the Nanjing River!
The first generation of bridge builders in New China has created a milestone in China's self-reliance to build large bridges over the past eight years.
On September 30, 1968, the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge Railway Bridge was opened to traffic. On December 29 of the same year, the highway bridge was opened to traffic.
Starting from the independent design and construction of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, new bridge construction in China has made continuous breakthroughs. In the 21st century, the construction of high-speed railway bridges and cross-sea long bridges has entered a period of great development.
In 2011, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail Nanjing Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge was opened to traffic. It is the world's first six-lane high-speed long-span railway bridge, marking China's bridge construction technology among the world's leading.
In 2018, the world's longest sea-crossing bridge, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, was completed and opened to traffic. This super-engineering in the ocean has set a number of worlds and has become a new benchmark for bridge construction in the world.
According to statistics, since the 18th National Congress, more than half of the world's long-span bridges have appeared in China. More than half of the world's top 10 cross-sea long bridges, cable-stayed bridges, suspension bridges and arch bridges are built in China.
At present, we also have a large number of world-class bridges such as the Pingtan Strait Gongtie Bridge, the Hutong Yangtze River Bridge, and the Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge. The world's bridges such as “the longest, the biggest, the fastest...” will continue to be recorded. It was refreshed by China.
